JOY Tower Montevideo — Identity and comprehensive signage system for a premium experience

Challenge
The project involved developing the brand and the comprehensive signage system for one of Montevideo's tallest residential towers, a building conceived from its inception as a premium offering within the real estate market. The building's scale, verticality, and programmatic complexity—featuring multiple amenities, parking levels, common areas, and services—presented a dual challenge: to build an identity that matched its positioning and, simultaneously, to ensure a clear, intuitive, and efficient wayfinding experience for residents and visitors.
It was not merely about designing signs, but about strategically thinking how people inhabit and navigate the building. It was necessary to define placement criteria, information hierarchies, and logical routes to optimize circulation and prevent friction at critical points such as entrances, elevators, landings, parking lots, and common areas. The signage had to integrate with the architectural concept, maintain consistency with the project's premium character, and synchronize design with production and cost criteria.
The challenge was then to articulate brand, space, and experience into a single coherent system, where every graphic decision responded to functional logic and a narrative of quality.

Strategy
The strategy stemmed from comprehensive planning, treating signage as a cohesive system rather than isolated pieces. The logo was optimized for architectural application, and a visual language aligned with the building's identity was defined, prioritizing formal synthesis, elegance, and timelessness.
Based on the analysis of flows and touchpoints, differentiated information levels were established: general orientation signage, space identifiers, situational signage, elevator lobbies, parking areas, exterior totems, and regulatory signage. Each typology was designed with criteria of visual hierarchy, legibility, and material coherence, ensuring a fluid experience throughout all routes.
The system incorporated a curated selection of materials and finishes consistent with the tower's premium concept, integrating harmoniously with the architecture without competing with it. The strategic definition of placements allowed for anticipating user decisions, reducing uncertainty, and reinforcing the perception of order and quality in every movement.
The result is a brand and signage ecosystem that not only guides but elevates the living experience. The identity is projected in every detail, consolidating the building as a benchmark in its category and demonstrating that design, when strategic, becomes an essential part of the architecture and daily life.
